Emery is officially 2 months old as of October 5th. I'm not sure where the last 2 months have gone, as it feels like she was just born. She is growing and changing everyday!
We had her 2 month Dr. appointment this past Wednesday. She is within the 50th to 56th percentile for weight, length and head circumference. The Dr. said developmentally she's doing great. She was impressed with how well she is holding her head up and said she was doing a skill that they hope to see at 4 months (bringing her hands midline to her face). She has an umbilical hernia that we're hoping goes away on it's own within the next few months. I'm skeptical though as the Dr. said 'well, it could go away on it's own, but hers is really big.' If it hasn't gone away in 3 to 5 years, then she'll get it surgically removed. The appearance doesn't bother me, but it's a little frustrating that this thing could potentially become very dangerous to her health (although this is rare). We have to make sure it doesn't turn red and that it can always be easily pushed in and will come back out.
At 2 months this girl's sleep is so inconsistent! She has given us nights of 6, 7, and 8 hours of sleep; however, we have seen some major regression in the sleep department. The first 2 nights of this week we got about 4 hours of sleep. It is starting to get better, as she's going about 5 hours….will wake up and eat…..and then go back to sleep for a few more hours. This is totally doable. The whole eating/back to sleep process takes 15 to 30 minutes which isn't bad! Emery is still in our room and I won't move her up to her bed until she's is consistently sleeping 6 or 7 hours because our rooms aren't on the same floor of the house!
I'm afraid she might have some constipation issues like her big sis used to have! She went 1 whole week (7 days) without going poo! (yes, remember Lindvalls' how we joked that she'd have a blow out on our way home last Sunday….um…no….just went yesterday!). We had to put an ounce of water in her milk and 13 hours later she finally went.
Emery is really starting to coo and smile more at us! She is fussiest in the evening. Emery loves, loves, loves taking a bath! As soon as she hears the water run, she calms right down! The Dr. told me to go ahead and start to try getting her on a schedule….so we're attempting one currently!
